This site follows the adventures of The Backseat Barkers- a newly blended fictional family – Mom(Jess), Dad(Hugh) and the step-kids Fishstick and Lottie– on their first road trip together across Ontario in their brand new SUV. And yes, like step-kids everywhere, they are both a little jealous, they don’t like the changes in housing, rules and parenting styles and they are definitely not as keen on their new step-sibling as the parents are on each other. And they don’t mind sharing their opinions.
We will also share behind the scenes news, tips on travel and pet care, rescue stories, product reviews, and other useful information for millennial pet lovers.
Meet Jess and Hugh.
24 year old Mom: country-bred (Sudbury where Lottie is from), fresh air, yoga, dancing, jogging, biking, work-to-live, juice bars and ready to carpe every diem with optimism and a sunny disposition. Very fit and active and loves agility and trick training so has a working dog breed.
28 year old Dad: The city boy, intent on building his dentistry practice (and succeeding), time stressed, detail-oriented-45-minutes-on-
They could not be less alike. And more in love.
So how did these two get together? At the dog park.
Meet Fishstick and Lottie.
He (Fishstick): A sociable, lazy, lovable lap Pug with a keen sense of entitlement who’ll eat anything not bolted down. Rescued by Hugh from PugALug Pug Rescue and living the good life.
She (Lottie): the perky high energy Border Collie that can catch a disc, do a backflip and bring your slippers without you knowing for a second it’s all a mask for her neuroses and insecurities. Loves swimming, running, and having a job.
